So the Navi is a Fujitsu 10 box and I found this page with related info

    http://techinfo.subaru.com/static/whatsNew.html

After going through 300+ pages I guess there's no way to import POI or routes

I went to the Fujitsu company web and found a huge cache of info so don't give up yet...the other PDF sections like how to install the rear diffuser and maintenance sure show a lot of things that Subaru doesn't think we should be doing ourselves...death can occur while changing headlights!!! Extremely glad I didn't order the $800 diffuser, what a POS!

I'm very disappointed with the stock stereo in the BRZ. It actually sounds decent, but the woofers in the door easily go past their excursion limits and the midrange/tweeters have some distortion. Plus it is not loud at all.

I really miss my previous setup and I have absolutely NO clue what to do here. My problem is I want to have some trunk space in this car as I do intend to Autocross it and would love to be able to carry tires, jack, equipment, etc.

My previous setup was an oldie but a goodie - I had a computer feeding optical audio to an Alpine PXA-H701 DSP feeding JBL Crown amps to Alpine Type R subs and Focal 165K2P components. I have a lot of work to do if I want anywhere near the same quality. The dash layout in the BRZ is going to be nearly impossible to work with unless I digitize the climate control and switches (which I can do but I'd prefer not to).

I may just leave the stock unit and use line level converters

I've done a lot of customization in the past with fiberglass and I just might have to whip something up here to get some deep bass from this car while maintaining the already small trunk.

I'm excited to see what other people come up with in the BRZ.

I found this thread and I'm wondering if the Subaru radio has three sets of pre outs ...that would be amazing!

Concerning the stock radio - the fellas on DIYMA and FT86 have concluded that the Bespoke is the only one that has 3 pre-outs and the Subi version has one (I believe) for sub out.

Changing out the stock speakers in the stock locations would be a start. Better amplification would certainly provide better sound through the upgraded speakers, but then you are getting into issues where a dsp that can take speaker wire inputs might need to be integrated.

Concerning the sub question while maintaining trunk space - unless you did a small sub in the footwell of the passenger side.....a 12" IB set up might be the best way of getting the lows while maintaining the greatest amount of trunk space.

Re: Mobile Audio: BRZ, FR-S, GT86

I added an amp to the stock speakers earlier this week. Unfortunately there is no preamp out on the stock Subaru fujitsu unit (the one with nav). I had to use a line level converter.

The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards using the spare tire well for the enclosure and then putting the spare tire in the trunk space. If I need to trunk space I'll take the spare out - easier then removing the sub / amps.

That is exactly what I'm thinking - amps and processor in the tire well and put the spare tire in a tire bag - throw it in for long trips. I may still get stock sometime, but I did all of this rigging to have a hinged false floor in my BMW, and I still can't get the spare out (never had to in 5 years). My wife won't like it one bit, but I'm not going to take up the entire trunk area with my amps.
