Holy stupid place to put a dipstick!
No, I'm just saying the positioning of the dip stick is going to cause alot of issues when making modifications or repairs to the engine, its not in a nice place where it can be avoided 99% of the time, instead they make it so you have to remove it when doing anything with the engine itself.
I thought we bought Subarus so we didn't have to do anything to the engine...?![]()
Not so much worried about the dipstick placement but check out some other items, such as the sway bar, not gonna be able to change that out easily. Or the water thermostat, hidden under the car. Also that exhaust port from the "heads" with only 3 bolts for 2 ports, would have like to seen 4 bolts so that a latter turbo addition would be able to provide adequate sealing for any back pressure. The oil filter is in a great place for convience, but looks to be messy... I bet this thing just fits between the fenders its so wide and lowSomething else I don't or haven't seen much of is the steering config, with the tie rods behind the front axle, instead of infront of it (I imagine this helps move the weight further back). I did notice that in the rearend their is a huge thick aluminum differential cover, but a cast steel rearend. Making me think the cast is designed to add balance, not just strength. Really excited for this car, i'm tired of the stupid shadow games, just release it already.
Does anybody know what the "SPORT / SNOW" button is here?

Those settings will typically remap the shift program. So slower clutch release in snow. In sport, shifting will be faster, lifting off the gas won't engage the clutch causing engine braking. Leave the car in sport and tape over the switch.
This is the system used on all Subarus, including WRX and STi, because it provides superior sealing for high pressure. The filter isn't messy, it drains into the base. Apparently you haven't changed any plugs, any oil, or even worked on a Subaru lately if you think this is extraordinarily close-fitting, messy, or oddly designed. And, the normal reason for an aluminum rear diff cover is for heat transfer....
You guys need to get out more, and get your hands greasy. This car's design is excellent in every way.
