    Re: BRZ Owners Manual

I've been reading that manual for hours... thank you.

It appears that, as far as amenities go, I won't be giving anything up going from the STi to the BRZ. This is a very well thought-out car, better than I kind of suspected.

Time seems to be going even slower now... but it's not all bad, the car I'm driving now is excellent. The only "worry" about the transition is, will I miss the power. Then when I think about it, I realize... most of the time spent on the road in the STi I'm only using a fraction of the power and rarely see boost. It is sure nice when I want to use it, however. My wife will appreciate the lower power, she almost always considers my use of the STi's capacity to be unsafe and illegal. Mostly, she's right.

I'm very happy with all the amenities that are listed in the manual. This car is an upgrade in every single way compared to my current car. I also agree that the power is perfect for street driving. Sure there are other cars out there that can push your butt into the seat, but if you ever do that you're breaking the law and usually not being safe so why bother.

This is awesome! It still doesn't list interior dimensions. I'm actually going to have a chance to see one in person today at Star Subaru in Queens, NY. A SOA rep will be there so I should start picking their brains! I'll take measurements of the interior with a ruler if I can (for those concerned about the seats like me.)

I was hoping it would have information on headlight switches and whatnot. but I didn't see anything.

Good to see I'm not the only one moving from an STI to a BRZ! (Actually, I went WRX -> STi -> STI -> BRZ.) Like you, I will miss the power but I so rarely use it, and am doing a lot more driving than when I bought the first STi, so the crummy mileage is really killing me. It'll be nice to do more than barely touch the throttle most days!

The amenities do look good; I might not have even considered the BRZ if it didn't come with Alcantara! In many ways, it will be a step up, and probably will be noisier than the my '08 (the '05 made more nice noises.) I will miss AWD also, but a good set of snow tires should work well, and we've been getting so little snow lately...

Page 199. It will have an "auto" setting. It also has the same manual leveling that the STI has. Hopefully they won't be as low as they are on the STI; I had to manually move them up with the adjusters under the hood on my '08, as they were notably lower than on my '05 and the dealer claimed that they were correct.

A few sections later on page 205 shows that the fog light switch is on the same turn signal stalk as the headlight switch in case you were wondering.

thanks! not sure how I missed that. :\

It doesn't say anything about the headlight halos. I'm wondering how/when they'll get switched on. Are they part of the parking lights? I've seen them on when the headlights weren't on, so I'm assuming they can be turned on with the DRLs
