So far it seems like a pretty even split, I like the idea of the V1 having the directional information so at least you know where the cop will be pulling up from to ticket you

9500 and k40 both also do directional, 9500 on the display and through voice, k40 just by voice because there is no display

Personally, I don't feel like the direction is that important. I think it's most important to be warned to slow down before you get close enough. Like I said, any good radar is better then none if your speeding.

I have the Escort X50 and the 9500 and they both work great.

I sell the Escort 9500xi at my shop in northern Virginia. This unit is simply amazing, has gps built in, easy updates for cameras and hot spots, blocks out false signals and stores them based on location and a bunch of other features. We have to sell these because they are hidden systems and radar detectors are illegal in va. I have the escort and I have taken trips using it and a v1 at the same time. The escort picks up a bit faster, but it's such a small amount that it doesn't really matter.
Go with the v1 if you want to be able to easily switch between vehicles, but I prefer the escort because of the sleek display, easy controls, and laser diffusor (which I don't believe is available for valentine, I'm pretty sure they just have a laser detector built in)

i live in northern va too...have you ever been caught with one? i dont have one but im pretty good at telling if there is a cop near by and where they sit.

I got the Escort 9500Xi because in Ohio instead of outlawing radar detectors, the just put false signals everywhere. Not a problem with the GPS built in.
