What do you guys think of the interior?

Hi guys, so I sat in the FR-S, and then later in the BRZ at the NY Auto Show this week and honestly I was not impressed by the interior. The FR-S felt very cheap and tinny, and I was hoping the BRZ would be better; it wasn't. What was worse, the driver's side left bolster was already peeling & flaking on the leather section of the BRZ. I understand that there were some NYAS partons of the wider persuasion who tried to sit in the car even though they couldn't ever own one due to being too wide, but do you all think this was some sore of pre-production fluke? Or can we expect this to happen on owners' car within a few years?

I have sat in both the FR-S and BRZ. Both very similar in quality, nothing to brag about to your fellow Porsche owner, which is expected. You do have to remember the price point of the vehicle and that you are not buying this car for its interior. All the BRZs and FR-S that are here now are all pre production, so yes, I do believe that is a pre-production fluke with abnormal wear and tear.

I can only truly compare the interiors to my STI, and they are almost at the same level, and I personally like my STI interior and have no complaints.

I'd also assume that many different butts have sat in the seat putting a large wear on the entry side of the seat... The interior looks great to me but I have yet to sit in one. I also agree this car is not a luxury car with a straight "comfort" interior, it was built more for spirited driving.

Price point is so important to consider when looking at cars and I am sure these interiors and exteriors (paint jobs) are not the highest quality but if that is what you are looking for why go to such an inexpensive car as this...they probably don't rally as well as the rest of the Subaru line either. They do look good and from all I read they also drive great and that is what I am looking for...I always say that there are two kinds of people, 1) people that drive their cars and 2) people that their car's drive them.

I understand where everyone is coming from. And I certainly wouldn't buy the car for its interior. I'm perfectly happy with the interior on my 07 Si and thats a $20k car. I dunno, I'm not going to pass any final judgements until I see the car in the showroom, but I was just a little surprised by what I saw at the NYAS....as well as by the fact that the show car still had a shift knob. So any idea when these are showing up at dealers on the east coast?

You feel the Civic interior is nicer then the BRZ's? Definitely find that interesting.

I don't think anyone knows anything about when the cars are showing up.

Yeah, after driving the civic for almost 5 years, I think it's better than what I saw at the auto show. Not necessarily in terms of design, just build quality.

I could personally care less about the interior, as long as it has a steering wheel and a seat, I am good
