    Question Fumoto Valve

Should I assume that the BRZ will use the same fumoto valve for the oil pan as the wrx? Was thinking about emailing them but I doubt the have gotten their hands on a BRZ/FR-S. I suppose for the relatively small price I could just buy one and see if it fits.

Never heard of that before. Does the WRX have this valve inside the oil pan, cause my STI doesn't have it on the exterior?

The last time I saw my mechanic draining the oil he was using a socket wrench to unscrew the nut and the oil just flow out from there. No sign of the valve to be seen at all. Perhaps the specs of the cars here are different from the USDM Subaru.

Don't think I was completely clear on my description. The Fumoto valve is not an OEM piece of equipment. It is a valve that one buys to replace the oil drain bolt so all you have to do when draining the oil from the pan is open the valve. I've had one on my 03 WRX for 120K miles and makes changing oil easier.

My bad.. But it would be pretty neat to have it as an oem. Just checked out there website and they claim they used it as an oem on out Subaru vehicles as well but not sure which model.

I would definitely just wait on it. Sounds like a pretty cool mod.

It probably is the same but the oil pan was made just for this engine...and to assume makes an ass(of)u(&)me. I would buy it too, cause they are cheap...besides the oil pan was made for this car but I am willing to bet that stock pan bolt was not. They are the best for doing your own oil...next to my oil extraction unit My favorite moment was watching a mechanic try to remove mine

We will need to know if it is 16 or 20mm bolt...or buy two and return one.
