Not a Brake lamp.... likely a rear foglamp, the law in much of Europe. Too bad if the BRZ one is inactive as a small car's rears rear end might be an easy target in dense fog

TIA...Is there room for a new exhaust system to run from the exhaust ports rearward instead of the "pretzel" they created in front of the oil pan and water pump? Again Thanks!

    by my eye.......

The petzel is part of merging the cylinders by firing order for better TQ

Can't the merge be done to the rear to remove the "heating pad" from the water and oil?

FMPOV, don't second guess the OEM on this kind of stuff. If you don't have proven experience and a dyno to prove your theory, don't do it.

With this kind of thinking "don't second guess the OEM on this kind of stuff. If you don't have proven experience and a dyno to prove your theory, don't do it" there would be no aftermarket and the 2 million sq ft of SEMA each year would be big empty rooms. We also would not have a round world or be able to travel over 30 MPH, not to mention air travel. My motto is "If you think its impossible its possible you have stopped thinking." OEM has so many constraints I don't even want to go into that topic. Yes, there are very basic physical restrictions/limitations but to experiment is to learn.

Now that I have "vented", there are many proven thoughts on header/exhaust design (like extreme bending causes restrictions and loss of power) and some experience in those areas will be helpful. Flow dynamics is a very liquid (excuse the pun) science and even today we are learning new and improved ways. FMPOV the exhaust system had a heavy hand from Toyota so the car didn't have a "boxer" sound. The "loud noise" in the passenger compartment is partially due to the extra valve vented to it. There is lots of room for improvement and the GT300 cars have already done this. They don't have a pretzel in front.

    Counterpoint:

How many HP improving exhausts, for any marque, make it to market without Dyno testing? I'll guess not many, if any.

Re: Got any Subaru BRZ Questions?

    Counter, counterpoint

Interesting point, so lets examine it...1)Sometimes exhausts are not developed for HP but for torque. The BRZ could use a healthy dollop of that.
2)Many companies do not have their own engine dyno or even a wheel dyno and send them out to be tested...countering your "If you don't have proven experience and a dyno" above, and I know you don't believe you have to have experience with something before you can do it...again, 'where would we be'.
3)With current software the OEM'ers develop all their hardware and then they test them as a complete unit...if it works they are happy and if not its back to the "computer". If you believe they build the car with the maximum output, pinch yourself...I know you don't believe that either, your just a fun guy to counterpoint.
4)Last, for now, I'll guess not many too, but we both know it does happen because all exhaust systems are not created equal.

Just by your comments I can decipher a healthy skepticism and a strong conservative nature, all of which are good to keep people like me in line but lets work as a team instead of opponents

PS, How about replacing the belt driven water pump with a thermostatically controlled electric one...less drag and more cooling.

    2 year old calling...
