    Mystery Parts

There's likely to be a few parts we don't recognize....

    so to start:

It's common knowledge that there is a path from the airbox to the passenger compartment, but what is that foam box and tubes that are connected on the airbox and the far side of the MAF?

Maybe its the filter from the exhaust to the engine compartment to give the car a Toyota noise instead of the boxer sound...commented sight unseen

The "sound" is not from the exhaust, it is ducted from the intake via a convoluted path from the air intake into the passenger compartment. There are variations on this "feature" in other manufacturer's cars.

Also, the engine does have a "boxer" sound, it is just not the sound many associate with a "Subaru" sound because of the turboed engines' unequal exhaust configuration. A boxer will always have a distinct sound compared to an inline four.

Nope, this is yet another set of tubes/things. The "sound path" is easy to trace

The ONLY sounds I hear in or near the car are pure flat-4, reminds me of old Beetles, Porsche 356, or 912.

BTW, I think it was Ferrari who first used the term Boxer to describe the Flat 12 they used in the 70's (not to be confused with Paul Simon's song)
