June 23rd was a hot and windy day in Rosamond, California where Super Street Mag’s FF Battle and Import Tuner’s FR Shootout was taking place. Alongside in conjunction, a Japanese professional race car driver (Super GT, Taikyu, Group A) Mr. Takashi Oi from Rev Speed Magazine was there to cover the Unites States’ first modified Scion FR-S. This venue was also supported and covered by Import Tuner. Cusco had the great pleasure in loading up the FR-S with our suspension, braces, limited slip differential, suspension arms to put to the test at Streets of Willow.
We cannot go into details on what the results were but a head to head competition between product manufacturers always ends up being so controversial!
Source Interlink is apparently launching a FR-S dedicated website named GarageFRS.com next month, which highlights all the FR-S related tuners and trends all across the world. This should be an exciting medium since Scion is involved in this project.
The FR-Ss are lined up to begin the testing done by Takashi Oi. Each vehicle is loaded up with GoPro cameras to capture every detail of Oi’s impression of the machines.
Today, print publications just don’t cut it. Many high-tech video and camera equipment are a necessary for an effective event coverage. Each test vehicle was outfitted with at least three GoPros!
Getting track time! The Cusco FR-S was fitted with a 24 way damper adjustment coilover system, and our new Spec-F limited slip differential.
As an added bonus, an FR-S party wouldn’t be complete without the original AE86. The Cusco Levin was also compared side to side with its reincarnated successors.
The day finished off successfully with all cars performing as expected, with some better than others.
